About KeTIBA
The Kenya Travel Industry Business Awards (KeTIBA), an initiative of the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA), is the first national peer-reviewed awards platform dedicated to celebrating excellence within Kenya’s travel and tourism sector.
Launched in 2024, KeTIBA was introduced to recognize and honor outstanding achievements among travel agents, airlines, hotels, technology providers, and other suppliers across the industry. The inaugural event attracted over 200 attendees and celebrated the success of 32 organizations in various award categories. A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Abdulrazak Khalfan, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the industry.
Through these awards, KATA seeks to raise standards, promote industry-wide best practices, strengthen sector credibility, and encourage collaboration across the travel ecosystem. KeTIBA continues to inspire innovation, professionalism, and service excellence, positioning itself as a prestigious platform for peer recognition and industry growth.
Your Vote Defines Kenya’s Travel Industry Excellence
The annual search for Kenya’s most outstanding travel organisations typically runs from September to November and unfolds in two stages.
In the first stage (peer nominations), travel agents nominate their preferred industry suppliers, while industry suppliers, including hoteliers, airline staff, car rental companies, cruise operators, GDS companies, and other travel professionals (excluding travel agents), nominate their preferred travel agencies.
There are two award streams:
- Travel Industry Supplier Awards – nominations by travel agents, with final results influenced by public voting.
- Travel Agency Awards – nominations by industry suppliers, with final results influenced by public voting.
From this nomination process, the top five nominees in each category are shortlisted.
In the final stage (public voting), these shortlisted nominees are subjected to a public vote. This customer-driven perspective complements the peer review process, ensuring that the winners reflect both industry recognition and the traveller’s voice.
With the combined endorsement of business peers and the traveling public, every KeTIBA Award winner epitomises the highest standards of Kenya’s travel industry.
